Piles & fissures are diseases affecting the anal region. Piles, also known as hemorrhoids, are swollen blood vessels in the anal canal. Piles may cause bleeding in drops or jet form. Large piles may come out of the anus, known as prolapsed piles.
They are commonly seen in patients with constipation excessive straining & passing hard stool. They are also associated with pregnancy & delivery.
Piles are diagnosed by per anal examination which is known as Proctoscopy. The other causes of blood in the stools are cancer, colitis, diverticulitis etc. The diagnosis of these diseases is made by colonoscopy.
Piles can be treated by medicines, cream, local injection, laser treatment & by surgery. We at Antrang Hospital are treating piles since last 25 years by effective local injection & Piles banding. It is OPD treatment & does not require admission or General anesthesia. It is painless & it is at surprisingly low cost.
Occasional bleeding associated with hard stools can be treated by high fiber diet, plenty of water intake & mild laxatives. Repeated bleeding requires doctor’s consultation.
